Valuing Your Website

There are only 95 sleeps, according to Santa, until Christmas.  Although for many it is way too early to even be mentioning this holiday, however, it seems half of the population already has their shopping list entirely completed and will be sitting back and relaxing for the next 95 days.  Whichever side of the aisle you may stand, or sit, it is never too early to give yourself, or your business, the gift of an updated website or even a website all together. 


Last week I did some research and found that a staggering number of businesses just in the Grand Traverse area do not have a website at all.  While I do have an appreciation for marketing in the "real world", both the "cyber world" and "real world" work in partnership.  The value of having a strong "cyber world" presence cannot be understated.  According to Stanford University,


"75% of users admit to making judgements about a company's credibility based on their website's design". 


This is huge and easy to take advantage of.  You now have the power to transform the basis of their decision to ultimately be your client or customer, or not.  To those who are "on the line", which is everyone these days, you want to make sure your website and Social Media are giving a positive impression.


In case you still aren't convinced of the importance of investing in your web presence,


" 87 percent of buyers say that online content has a major or moderate impact on vendor preference and selection"


according to B2B Marketing Insider.  If you're thinking a website or social media is not relevant or worth investing in, think again. 


"52 percent of buyers say blogs have impacted their purchase decisions; and 57 percent of marketers have acquired new customers with their blogs"


says LeadersWest Digital Marketing Journal.  From blogs alone you could be growing your business exponentially.  Hubspot says,


"76 percent of people say the most important characteristic of a website is ease of use".


  With pretty much everyone being "on the line", it is critical for your site to be accessible and easy to navigate.  One short moment of frustration of a user not being able to find what they want on your site and they are on to the next.


Think of all the times that you needed to know the hours of a restaurant to grab a last minute bite, or when you needed to find the nearest doctor.  What was the first thing you did?  You picked up your smartphone and you "Googled" it.  Although Google is amazing, it is not just an all-knowing entity that magically has information about all of the businesses you may need to search for.  It  is easy to forget about keeping this information current and updated when you are managing a business, because few of us actually "Google" ourselves or our business.  However, it is vital.  If someone "Googles" something they need, that would include your business, and your address is not available or your phone number is outdated, they will just go to the next search result.  It is completely easy for viewers to merely scroll on for no reason at all.  The challenge lies in intriguing them enough to make that effortless click.
